Context

Jam Party is a game developed during a Game Jam organized by the Student Union (BDE) of ISART Digital, as part of a charity event. The theme of the jam was “Ghost Town”. Each team had to develop a mini-game designed for 4 players. At the end of the jam, all the mini-games were combined to create a complete party game.

For this project, I put together a team consisting of 1 Gameplay Programmer, 1 Game Artist, 1 Programmer, and 1 Sound Designer.

My goals

As I formed the team, I was the only Game Designer on the project, with a versatile role. I also took on the role of Producer, managing and organizing the 5-person team while leading the project's creative direction.

My Roles

Game Design

At the beginning of the jam, I organized a brainstorming session with the team to come up with a game concept that everyone was excited about.

Once the idea had been chosen and approved, I started working on the game's design in details. I created various technical documents and diagrams, mainly aimed at the programmers, covering different aspects of the game.

I worked on the game flow, 3Cs, enemy AI, enemy wave spawning system, game UI, and level design for the 3 room layouts.

In addition, I was responsible for maintaining the project's creative direction and overall consistency, as well as QA and polish.

Producing

In addition, I took on the role of Producer, overseeing the team's organization and management.

I coordinated the team by acting as a bridge between the different disciplines, while ensuring the project's creative direction and overall vision.

I also monitored the project's progress and made strategic decisions based on the time remaining to ensure to deliver a polished result.
